I have taught a wide range of courses in applied linguistics and language pedagogy, including 10 online graduate courses for the FLT curriculum and significant redesigns of at least two courses. In my case, designing a course includes determining the objectives, content, required readings, and assignments; creating lectures including slides and videos; writing discussion prompts that stimulate processing and application of the material in the readings and lectures; scaffolding the assignments, including creating guidelines and templates; training learners to use a wide range of technology for communication, presentations, and data analysis; incorporating university resources and requirements, including principles of ethical conduct of research; and compiling these materials into a coherent sequence of 12 modules that students can access from anywhere. Also, I am constantly experimenting and modifying my use of technology including our learning management system (D2L), Microsoft Teams, and other apps such as Padlet and PollEverywhere to support my students’ engagement with the material, with each other, and with me.

Since I became program director in 2018, I also supervise the teaching, revision, and design of courses in the FLT curriculum taught by other core faculty and adjunct instructors.
